Three Gold Awards for Fat Badger Group at Harrogate in Bloom 2026

Fat Badger Group is celebrating a blooming brilliant achievement after our Head Gardener, Goff, took home three Gold awards at the Harrogate in Bloom Awards 2026. Recognising the beautiful floral displays at The Fat Badger and The Yorkshire Hotel, the awards are a wonderful testament to Goff’s hard work, creativity and dedication to making Harrogate look its very best.

A triple Gold win for Goff

The Harrogate in Bloom Awards celebrate the businesses, organisations and individuals who help make Harrogate such a colourful and attractive place to live, work and visit. For Fat Badger Group, this year’s awards were particularly special, with Goff receiving recognition across three categories.

Our Head Gardener was behind the award-winning displays at two of our best-loved Harrogate venues, bringing colour, character and seasonal charm to the town’s streets.

The three awards were:

The additional Chamber of Trade & Commerce Trophy recognises The Fat Badger’s outstanding gardens, making this a particularly proud moment for Goff and everyone at Fat Badger Group.

The Fat Badger: A blooming brilliant pub garden

Situated on Cold Bath Road, The Fat Badger is known for its characterful atmosphere, welcoming hospitality and inviting outdoor spaces. Its colourful floral displays bring an extra touch of charm to the pub, creating a lovely setting for guests to enjoy a drink, meet friends or make the most of a sunny afternoon.

The garden’s vibrant planting, including striking cannas, helps create a distinctive display that brightens the surrounding streetscape while complementing the character of the venue.

Winning Gold in the pubs and restaurants category, alongside the overall Chamber of Trade & Commerce Trophy, recognises the care that goes into maintaining these spaces throughout the year.

The Yorkshire Hotel: A colourful welcome to Harrogate

The Yorkshire Hotel occupies a prominent position in the heart of Harrogate, welcoming hotel guests and visitors to one of the town’s most recognisable buildings.

Its floral displays help create an inviting first impression, adding colour and character to the hotel frontage and contributing to Harrogate’s reputation as a beautiful floral destination.

Winning Gold in the hotels category is a fantastic achievement and reflects the attention to detail that extends beyond the hotel’s interiors. From the moment guests arrive, the outdoor spaces help set the scene for a memorable stay.

Meet Goff: The Head Gardener behind the awards

Behind every beautiful garden is someone who puts in the time, care and attention to make it flourish. For Fat Badger Group, that person is Goff.

As our Head Gardener, Goff plays an important role in creating and maintaining the floral displays across our Harrogate venues. From selecting plants and creating colourful arrangements to keeping everything looking its best as the seasons change, his dedication can be seen throughout our outdoor spaces.

Gardening is about much more than planting flowers. It requires an understanding of seasonal colour, careful maintenance and a keen eye for detail. The Harrogate in Bloom awards recognise these qualities, celebrating displays that make a positive contribution to the town’s appearance.

Goff’s three Gold awards are a wonderful recognition of the work he puts in throughout the year, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievement.

A huge congratulations to Goff from everyone at Fat Badger Group!

Supporting Harrogate’s floral heritage

Harrogate has a long-standing reputation for its beautiful gardens, floral displays and green spaces. Organisations such as Harrogate in Bloom play an important role in celebrating this heritage, encouraging local businesses and communities to help keep the town looking its best.

The annual awards assess entries on factors including the quality and maintenance of planting, decorative features, the upkeep of paths and boundaries, community participation and the overall impression.

For local hospitality businesses, attractive outdoor spaces are an important part of the guest experience. A well-maintained garden adds character to a venue, creates a welcoming atmosphere and gives visitors another reason to stop, explore and enjoy Harrogate.

We’re proud that The Fat Badger and The Yorkshire Hotel have been recognised for their contribution, and delighted that Goff’s work has helped showcase our town at its very best.
